Objective:

To create incredible, web-based media for a company where fresh ideas, detailed creativity, and enthusiastic teamwork are needed.

Experience:

Front-End Developer and Designer | sampleminded
09.11 – present

I design and implement front-end technologies for several web-based applications used in biopharmaceutical companies. I interact with the back-end team and hook up my front end HTML, CSS, SASS, and jQuery to their JavaScript, Java, and JSON coding.

For sampleminded, I created a new website from the ground up with my original graphics, HTML, CSS, and some PHP. I use my knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics to provide the best possible experience for users while effectively communicating the company’s message.

My favorite part of this job is using my CSS expertise to assist the software development team in styling our application. Often, there is more than one way to fix an issue, and it can be great bouncing ideas off the team. I also solve issues arising from differences between browsers’ implementation of CSS to maintain a consistent user experience regardless of browser used.

  • I am responsible for creating and testing the front-end UI, ensuring design and functionality are consistent across browsers and operating systems.
  • I rebranded the entire company, including creating a new logo, brochure, website, and marketing materials for conferences.

Digital Imaging Product Designer | Happy To Create

05.11 – 06.13

As an independent contributor, I created and sold originally-designed products used for digital imaging, including actions and scripts used in Adobe Photoshop.

Webmaster/Newsletter Editor | Scrap Girls
11.06 – 04.11

A large part of this job included making sure our website and newsletter were attractive, easy-to-use, accessible, and addictive. We wanted to make sure our customers found us to be the prettiest, easiest, and most fun site to use on the Internet.

I created and was responsible for maintaining and updating Scrap Girls’ company website using HTML and CSS with Adobe Dreamweaver. I used results from Google’s Analytics and SEO best practices to constantly tweak text, colors, images, and placements to create the most addictive and usable site possible.

Our newsletter went out seven times a week and included tutorials, articles, layout samples, product descriptions, sale announcements, site happenings, etc. I was in charge of gathering the content, proofreading, coding each newsletter in HTML, and setting it up in Constant Contact to be sent to our subscribers.

I was also part of the support staff for a team of more than forty women where I consistently contributed unique, fresh ideas to help our company grow and develop.

  • The newsletter list grew by more than 300% during the time I was editor.
  • Our Google search rankings moved from page three to sixth place while I was in charge of SEO.

Computer Operator | University of Utah Cytogenetics
2004 – 12.06

I identified the subtle differences in human chromosomes and arranged them in a recognizable form (karyogram) to assist doctors in diagnosing both genetic and acquired abnormalities. I used microscopes and computers to capture images of chromosomes. When I wasn’t karyotyping, I was organizing and maintaining hundreds of patient files and specimen slides daily. I also trained new techs and doctors to recognize chromosomal abnormalities. In this medical setting, we were under a lot of time pressure to get results to patients and their families as quickly as possible.
